Sonchiriya’ clocks 6 years: Bhumi Pednekar calls it one of her “most beloved films”
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 1 (ANI): As the 2019 action-drama ‘Sonchiriya’ turned six on Saturday, actress Bhumi Pednekar took a moment to reflect on the film, calling it “one of her most beloved” projects.
Bhumi Pednekar recently celebrated the 6th anniversary of her film 'Sonchiriya' by sharing unseen behind-the-scenes moments on her Instagram account. She expressed her deep affection for the movie, stating it's one of her "most beloved" projects.
Released on March 1, 2019, 'Sonchiriya' is a gritty action drama set in the 1970s Chambal ravines, focusing on a gang of dacoits grappling with themes of redemption and survival. The film featured an ensemble cast, including the late Sushant Singh Rajput, Ashutosh Rana, and Ranvir Shorey.
Despite its underwhelming box office performance, 'Sonchiriya' received widespread critical acclaim for its authentic storytelling and powerful performances. The use of the Bundeli dialect added a layer of realism to the narrative, with Bhumi and Sushant's portrayals receiving particular praise.
This anniversary also marks Bhumi's 10-year journey in Bollywood, which began with her debut in 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' in 2015. Reflecting on her diverse filmography, Bhumi shared, "These 10 years have taught me resilience, passion, and the power of believing in oneself."
Her roles have consistently challenged stereotypes, from portraying a queer woman in 'Badhaai Do' to playing an elderly sharpshooter in 'Saand Ki Aankh'. Most recently, she impressed audiences with her performances in 'Bhakshak' and 'Thank You For Coming'.
To commemorate this special occasion, Bhumi hosted an intimate celebration in Mumbai, surrounded by close friends and family.
