Renowned theatre director Lillete Dubey has brought her magnum opus, "JAYA: A Rock Musical of the Mahabharata," to Chennai. This innovative English-language production reimagines the ancient Indian epic through a contemporary lens, blending rock music with traditional elements like mantras, Krishna's flute, and Kalaripayattu drums. 
The musical was staged at the Sir Mutha Concert Hall in Chennai on December 15, 2024, at 4:30 PM. The production features a talented cast of singer-performers, including Sherrin Varghese, Megan Murray, and 2Blue, who bring the characters of the Mahabharata to life through powerful performances. 
"JAYA" has received widespread acclaim in other cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, for its unique fusion of rock music with classical Indian dance forms like Kathak and Kalaripayattu. This Chennai performance continues the show's journey across India, offering audiences a fresh perspective on the timeless themes of the Mahabharata.
