Protection sought for Rashmika Mandanna, action against bullying

Following their appeal for protection for actress Rashmika Mandanna, the Codava National Council (CNC) has now escalated their concerns, calling upon the National Commission for Women (NCW) to take suo motu action against those engaged in bullying the actress. The Council had previously called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara to intervene. The move follows backlash from Kannada organisations and activists in Karnataka over the alleged “disrespect shown by the actress towards the state” and controversial remarks by a Karnataka MLA against the actress.

Issuing threats and bullying people is never right: Ramya
Actors, especially female actors, have become soft targets for politicians. Karnataka MLA Ravi Ganiga said Rashmika Mandanna should be “taught a lesson for forgetting her roots”. Issuing threats and bullying people is never right, and politicians should refrain from doing so. And this is precisely why the actors don’t speak up,” actress Ramya previously told us during an interview.
The Codava National Council (CNC) has recently called upon authorities, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, to provide protection for actress Rashmika Mandanna. This appeal follows critical remarks from Congress MLA Ravi Kumar Gowda and Kannada activist T.A. Narayana Gowda, who expressed dissatisfaction over Rashmika's association with Hyderabad, despite her roots in Karnataka's Kodagu district.
In their letter, the CNC condemned the alleged bullying and intimidation directed at Rashmika, emphasizing her right to personal choices without facing coercion. They highlighted her significant achievements in the Indian film industry, attributing her success to dedication and talent. The CNC further criticized the MLA's actions, suggesting they reflect a bias against the Kodava community, and urged immediate steps to ensure her safety and uphold her rights.
Additionally, the CNC has approached the National Commission for Women (NCW), urging them to take suo motu action against individuals involved in bullying the actress. They stressed the necessity for protection and support for women, particularly those from marginalized communities, against harassment and intimidation.
This situation underscores the challenges public figures often face regarding personal affiliations and the importance of safeguarding individual rights against undue societal pressures.
